Have you ever experienced a life-altering moment that completely altered the trajectory of your journey? At the age of 17, my life took an unexpected turn when I became incredibly sick. I experienced kidney stones and unrelenting exhaustion to a myriad of bewildering symptoms, my health became a constant struggle. For five long years, I was in and out of hospitals, desperately seeking answers. It wasn't until I turned 22 that a simple blood test unveiled the truth, forever changing my world.
Thirteen emergency surgeries, one chest exploratory procedure, a parathyroidectomy, and a plethora of medications and treatments became my new reality. At the time, there was no definitive prognosis; it was a matter of enduring each step and reassessing as we moved forward.
There's nothing quite like the looming uncertainty of tomorrow to make you cherish every single moment, every person, and everything around you. It's an indescribable appreciation that can only be born from the realization that tomorrow is not promised.
In January of 2009, I received a clean bill of health, and that's when my perspective on life took a significant shift. Prioritizing both my mental and physical well-being became paramount. I embraced the outdoors wholeheartedly, dedicating ample time to being active. Whether it's running, hiking, or snowboarding, these activities have become my cherished pastimes. Additionally, I relish long backroad drives in my Jeep, accompanied by my favorite copilots.
The brevity and fragility of life became even more apparent in 2017 when my husband and I found ourselves standing at a crossroads, we had recently become a family of three, five with our beloved dogs. We realized that simply working hard to make ends meet was not enough. We yearned for more fulfillment and purpose. Consequently, we made the decision to sell our home and relocate halfway across the country. Our aim was to embrace a more intentional lifestyle, focusing on fewer material possessions and prioritizing quality time together. We discovered that what we value the most is right here in front of us and all around us.
In every precious moment, love and connection hold profound significance. It's not just about the bonds between individuals; it extends to the places and objects that define us. These elements shape our identities and leave indelible imprints on our personal journeys.
As a photographer, my ultimate mission is to encapsulate cherished memories for my clients, within the very locations that hold deep meaning for them and their loved ones. I strive to capture the most intimate and authentic connections in the places that matter most—whether it's the warmth of their home, the majestic heights of a mountain, a secluded spot in the woods, or even the confines of a car. My aim is to preserve fleeting moments that transcend the boundaries of time, for who truly knows the measure of a lifetime.
‘Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people who treat you right, forgive the ones who don’t, and believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it. ‘
